We are experts in heavy-duty Extension Spring Manufacturing. We design, engineer and manufacture millions every year for custom specifications.
As expert heavy duty extension spring manufacturers, our springs operate throughout a whole host of heavy extension spring applications across multiple industries including construction, robotics, lifting equipment, agriculture, elevators and heavy plant machinery as well as speciality equipment.
Heavy duty extension springs are tightly wound coils that allow for an outside force to create tension through an end fitting or loop, using this energy to pull components back together when reverting back to their original extension spring shape.
Our division specialises in the heavy extension spring which is the largest of the extension spring range.
As heavy duty, custom extension springs suppliers we design and manufacture heavy duty extension springs UK wide and across the globe for a wide variety of diverse industries and applications.
We hold the largest stock of chrome silicon in the world and work with carbon steels, low and high alloyed steels which enables our engineers to source the right material for the right application and work environment of your extension spring.
When considering industrial extension springs, our engineering teams evaluate the extension spring material types for chemical composition, surface properties, tensile strength and wire diameter.
Our material scientists are leaders in their field and are on hand to consult with our engineers on the properties of all our metals.
Heavy duty compression springs are used in mechanisms that require a great amount of force to be exerted on the spring. You may find heavy duty compression springs in heavy construction machines, agricultural equipment, industrial equipment and oil field equipment.
These springs may be found in stock through a stock compression spring catalog but could also be custom-made if you aren't able to find what you need in stock.
Heavy duty extension springs are required when a device needs a large amount of load to be pulled on the spring. They can be found in heavy hydraulics, heavy vehicles, or metal working machinery.
Heavy duty extension springs may also be found in stock extension spring catalogs or be custom made in case that you have a mechanism that requires a more exact design to meet your mechanism's specific needs.
The company is the world’s best heavy duty tension springs supplier. We are your one-stop shop for all needs. Our staff are highly-specialized and will help you find the product you need.
Heavy duty torsion springs are usually found in lift-gates, hatches, or lids. They are able to exert large amounts of torque when a torque load is placed on the legs. Their function in a truck's lift gate, for example, is to assist the user to support the weight of the gate safely while pulling it down. They also assist the user in lifting the gate back to its original position with minimal human force.
Heavy duty torsion springs can be custom-made to match the torque that you require and to fit your application properly. There is also a stock torsion springs catalog you may search through to find your heavy duty torsion spring.
Heavy duty spring design may become very complex when it comes to making sure your spring will meet the desired loads or torque. Acxess Spring has made this task a lot easier with our free online spring calculator, Spring Creator. Here you are able to design your heavy duty compression, extension, and torsion springs with only a few of your spring's dimensions. Our calculator calculates rate, safe maximum load, safe maximum travel, manufacturing warnings and tips, and functionality warnings and tips. Spring Creator also includes a section where you can input the load you will be applying on your spring or the loaded height you plan your spring to travel to and it will calculate either one automatically.
2. Applying Hooke’s Law The formula F=kx is a fundamental equation in spring mechanics, also known as Hooke's Law. It states that the force (F) exerted by a spring is directly proportional to the travel or deflection (x) of the spring from its equilibrium position, with k being the spring constant (or spring rate). Here, we'll use a deflection (x) of 1.5 inches.
Calculation:Using the formula F=kx:
F = k × x
Substitute the given values:
F = 199.lbs/in × 1.5inches
Perform the multiplication:
F = 299.853lbs
By applying Hooke’s Law, we have determined that the force exerted by the heavy duty spring when it is compressed by 1.5 inches is 299.853 pounds.
3. Maximum Travel (MT) refers to the greatest distance the spring can compress or extend without exceeding its elastic limit or deformation.
4. To find the Max Travel for your spring go to Spring Creator 5.0 and input your spring dimensions and click calculate, In the specs tab you will find the max travel (MT) for your spring. Never go past the max travel for if you do the compression or extension spring will not return to its original lenght and the spring will deform and take a set. Going past the maximum travel point you will lose spring load and force and the spring can possibly break. Never ever go past the maximum travel of your spring.
